Art nouveau chair
Or read this in Russian
It’s just about ten days till KDF, so let the panic begin! I need to pack everything, check all over again, make some textile for art nouveau bed. Lots of things! But before that, about a chair:
I found this original chair in Google Images search:
It’s made in 1895, mahogany. I knew nothing else, only today I found another site with lots of good pictures and measurements, but I guess it’s a little bit too late 🙂
I decided to use pear wood instead, as for inlaid veneer I used brass 0,4mm and a wire 0,35mm. So it became brass-inlaid chair:)
I also decided to change the textile color. I really don’t like how white -ish fabrics looks in miniature furniture, I don’t know, maybe it’s just me or my hands. I hate white upholstery, period. I made couple of chairs with it before and if I’m lucky I hope to change the textile there too.
Brass inlay looks great, it’s even better in real life than on photos. The details are very thin – 3mm for legs and 2,5mm for side parts.
I also started making textile for the bed, mattress for now:
Among other news – I joined IGMA guild recently, very excited about it, in a year or so I can apply for Artisan status, and I have no idea why I’m writing it;)
