As a part of the commission I had a table. Now it’s a good time to show you a couple of photos of the process of making it. Initially I was going to use mahogany for it and even made a table top and blanks for the legs, which I’ll show you below, but later on the plans got changed and I remade everything from cherry wood. Don’t be surprised 🙂
I liked this table because of the legs. At the first glance they are just made with lathe, but actually the central part is wider than the square part (which are not round, I hope my explanation is clear enough)
Lets begin with the table top. The edge is chamfered and side faces have rabbets. For that I used two bits.

Now for the legs. I cut blanks with equal length, and I don’t remember if I showed you this jig before. I have a bit of wood bolted to my miter gauge because the miter is too short. So to have all the blanks of the same length I measured it and clamped a stopper to this miter wood bit.
To have round part of a leg wider than the square one, I could make the round and then glue squares to it. But I decided it’s too much trouble and went the other way, measure the final square size and cut the blank’s ends down to it, leaving central to-be-round part as wide as it’s supposed to be.
Miter with a stopper helps here as well. That’s how it looks.
I left 15mm at the each side and removed 1mm of thickness.
That’s the blanks.
I found the centers to fix that in a lathe.
A bit of lathe work, a bit of carving (1.5mm gauge) and here is what I got. Central part diameter is larger than the square block.
Top stretchers are cut on a scrollsaw, bottom stretchers rabbets are made with a router.
The table is not finished with varnish or anything. I’ll do that when I’m done with all woodworking for this roombox. By the way, the dimensions are 80mm high, the tabletop is 80mm by 120mm.
