The carcass is ready, now I only need the textile for it. This is the second try with marquetry. Now I like it.:) The whole thing is mahogany.
First experience with marquetry
I always wanted to give it a try, so yesterday I took one of the clipart art nouveau ornaments. The result:

Not perfect. To my opinion – meh:)
But that’s where I love practice, I found out some mistakes that I hope I won’t make in the future – how to cut the pieces, choice of the right glue and finishing. Besides I was too lazy to trace the picture, so the edges are not good.
It was supposed to be one side of the bed for my roombox. The light border shouldn’t be seen actually – I was planning it to be dark. Well, considering the first experience I’m not sure I’ll use this one – I hope to make couple more to make sure it looks good for using with the bed.
New Table
New table – I didn’t make it!:) My hubby did this table tonight. That’s how beer affects people:) After a pint of beer he decided to make himself busy. The result is below:

To glue the veneer to the table the wire from Cat5 cable was used. I think it’s a brilliant idea.
New Table
Here’s the new table that was made this weekend.
Well, actually I’ve never tried to make cabriole legs before, so it was very exciting experience. The table on the photos is not really sanded and finished. I’ll show you it later.I think it looks very good, considering the fact it was the first time experience with the new jigsaw.
And again, I’m not going to use it in the roombox I’m making. Just for fun!
Round Table – Done
I’ve finally finished the round table, I’ll definitely need a roombox for it. I’m planning to make a lounge seat next, so maybe I’ll use them both. For now I don’t have a really good plan for roombox though:(
I’m happy and not happy with this table: lacewood veneer was a bit hard to work with, besides the lower part of the table was a bit of a challenge: I wasn’t using the router for it, only my scrollsaw, so I threw away couple of the lower part details:) The last one still not the best, but I decided to move on with it. Lacewood looks good to me.
Surprisingly I enjoyed working with veneer – it brings so many possibilities, so many patterns you can create, it’s just endless. So despite this not very good experience I’ll keep on working on it.
Oh, and welcome to my new followers! I’m really happy that you’re reading my blog, I hope you like it. Thank you for the great chance to get to know you too.
Round Table
Yesterday I started making round table. I made the leg and the top:
Kitchen stool- almost there
I’ve finished assembling the stool, looks okay to me. At least, I’ve never made it before, whole new experience, and I’m feeling excited about the process. I haven’t done any finishing yet, so the table looks darker:
I think I need to make 5-10 more to make it perfect:)
Kitchen stool
The final semester is over, and I’m free till April! This means that I can get back to my dollshouse:) That’s a huge relief for me – last month was absolutely crazy ( I guess, this was my favorite word this year), I had no time at all. I hope that I’ll be posting lots of updates now.
This week started with the idea of making some furniture – I had a kitchen table made several months ago and its style doesn’t allow me to use it in the dollshouse, so why not making a roombox? I guess I’ll make it a kitchen. So I thought it would be nice to make couple of kitchen stools first.
Legs are almost done:
