English A Louis-Philippe Chaise Longue circa 1840

I had to take a break in working on a roombox, so that I could make something for KDF 2014. This time it’s chaise longue. I think it was meant to be in my collection – I was looking for the inspiration, searching through antiques’ catalogues but there was nothing that I liked. And I have LOTS of catalogues, I remember that many months ago I even decided to scan several pieces to make mini copies of them in the future. I did it and completely forgot about those scans. Then later, several weeks ago I took random catalogue and opened on the same random page – found this chaise longue, fell in love with it, decided to make it. Imagine my surprise when I found the scans and saw the picture of this chaise longue there! Always trust your feelings 😉
The original is made of mahogany, but I decided to make it with cherry wood.
It’s quite nice and elegant piece, and functional too!
Now I’m working on an upholstery which will take some time, but I hope you’ll like the result!
