Look what I’ve found in the latest Miniaturas issue! Haha, my game table. It was a huge surprise for me.
I also got some pear wood – just plain one, steamed pear and a special one – it is the heat-treated pear which has light chocolate color. I’m going to use it in my new commissioned item.
My Baby Girl
I almost never write about personal stuff, but this is the most important and happiest event in my life – at 12th of July (my birthday) I became a happy mom of a beautiful baby girl.
I’ve been waiting so long for this, it’s hard to find a happier person in the whole world!
Something worth waiting
Our Russian post office is something! From November till February it collapses, you can wait for your packages for months and hope it’ll find its way to you. I almost gave up hope to receive lace threads from Belgium (I place an order in the beginning of December) and was really worried about Natalia‘s package. But finally it arrived! I cannot be happier!
And it was just the right time for me to make this dining table! 🙂
Such a beautiful cake and sweets, my holidays are not over yet 😉 Natalia, thank you so much!
Something Good
This last week I’m still working on one commission. Unfortunately, I cannot show you anything from it and I have no time to work on my dollshouse. Some emails still waiting for my reply, and I will reply, I promise!:)
But I also had some great moments I’d like to share with you. Last week I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the email from Ford Sobol ( http://www.artisticvision.com/soboleditions/index.html)! Somebody showed him my site, and seems like he liked my work. It’s something I still consider too good to be true. My passion for miniature furniture started from his article for American Miniaturist. You can imagine how happy I was.
Also I got the email today from Francisco del Pozo Parés, who’s work I admire. He’s just finished another fantastic project and I’m happy to share it with you!

For those who read my blog through different translators – I used to have a plugin which was translating all the posts and comments through Google Translate. Two days ago Google closed its Google Translate API, so this plugin stopped working. I got back to my long forgotten idea to translate all the posts and pages manually. Right now I have only few pages translated (one of them – Scale Calculator is really cool and useful) and a couple of posts plus all the tags and categories. I also added English RSS feed ( you can find it on the sidebar as well). You can change the language by clicking on the flag button in the top right corner.

Till recent time I was using one Russian plugin for authorization through Facebook and Google. However, there were some problems with the last one. Yesterday I’ve installed another plugin, which not only has OpenID, Facebook and Google, but Livejournal too (mostly used by those who read my blog in Russian). Hope, there will be no problems now.

First of all, I’ve updated scale calculator. Now you can see the scaled size not only in mm but in inches too.
I’ve also added the links to photo albums from different miniature shows. From Good Sam Show, for example.
Drawings apps
I wish I had the similar app on my site. I have an Android phone, as you know there are plenty of different apps available on market now. And there’s one just perfect for miniaturists. It’s called – Design Dimensions which has two versions – free and paid one. I use free version. It’s a database of items and their dimensions – furniture, lighting, plumbing. All you have to do is to scale it:)
Dollshouse and Miniature Scene
Just received the last issue of Dollshouse and Miniature Scene. I always wanted to find a magazine to subscribe, I have several digital subscriptions but needed something offline.
I got tired from the articles in American Miniaturist and Dollshouse World. They repeat the same articles in different mags, so you always have this feeling that you’ve seen it somewhere before. The last straw was repeating the articles about Ferd Sobol’s furniture in Dollshouse World, originally it was published in American Miniaturist (nothing personal here, I’m a huge fan of Sobol’s work:)).
I started thinking about subscribing to Miniature Collector, but there was one problem – our Russian Post. I have five subscriptions to different woodworking magazines and some of them are still somewhere on post. Somehow I’ve never had such problem with packages from UK so I decided on British magazine.
Раз уж зашел разговор про журналы о миниатюре, сегодня будет еще одна история.
Я как-то рассказывала про самые популярные журналы по миниатюре, на которые стоит подписаться. В конце статьи я упомянула английский журнал Dollshouse and Miniature Scene. В интернете его не найдешь, что объясняется достаточно просто — подписка достаточно дорогая и нет электронной версии журнала.
Наступил как-то момент, когда те журналы, на которые у меня была подписка мне наскучили, я читаю American Miniaturist и Dollshouse World. Может, я повторюсь, но у них одно издательство, а, значит, они, издатели, почему-то решили, что можно повторять статьи. Ведь один журнал вроде ориентирован на американцев, есть еще из этого же издательства журнал Dollhouse Miniatures (тоже американский), а второй ориентирован на англичан. То есть, якобы американец никогда не будет выписывать английский журнал и наоборот. Ну а я из России, про такой нюанс при подписке ничего и не знала. С тех пор, вот уже два года при просмотре нового номера меня довольно часто посещает чувство, что я уже где-то это видела. Статьи повторяются один в один, там даже фон и фотографии те же. Согласитесь, за свои кровные хочется чего-то нового, хочется новой информации. Особенно добила меня серия статей про мебель Ферда Соболя, она была где-то год назад в American Miniaturist, а теперь меня заставляют заново все это повторять в Dollshouse World. В общем, при всей моей любви к этому мастеру, как-то неприятно.
Решила я тогда найти журнал, который точно не из этого издательства халтурщиков, а что-то более стоящее. В США это журнал Miniature Collector. Тут был один минус – из США все едет долго (до сих пор мои журналы по деревообработке едут, уже который месяц, фиг отследишь). Кроме того, знающие люди, живущие в США, мне рассказали, что по сути там одна реклама миниатюристов, я также посмотрела на некоторые статьи и поняла, что рекламу я и в интернете в фейсбуке, например, получаю.
Англия оказалась ближе, доставка всегда хорошая (т-т-т), и есть такой вот журнал – Dollshouse and Miniature Scene. Выходит он раз в месяц, в пакете я получила набор для “сборки” плюшевого медведя. Собирать его я не стала, отложила до лучших времен, а вот внутри журнал оказался достаточно интересным.
