Hall parquet
I have only one room to make the floor for. Right now, the drawing is ready. The hall looks quite simple. But I really like it that way. Читать дальше…
Site updates
Sometimes it happens!:)
First of all, I’ve updated scale calculator. Now you can see the scaled size not only in mm but in inches too.
I’ve also added the links to photo albums from different miniature shows. From Good Sam Show, for example.
Stool
As with the mirror the stool is made of walnut, one more commissioned piece. I enjoyed working on it – played with router bits, getting some new profiles. I also like the top of the stool.
Parquetry for bedroom
And another room is ready. Working on the parquetry took the whole weekend, and yesterday all I had to do is to make borders. All in all there were 1850 details to glue. And I have about 500 left. The size of the floor is something about 38cm x 41cm. It’s quite big, especially comparing with the living room.
Cubes
This is the post for those who’s still interested in parquetry:)
This is the pattern I’ve chosen for the bedroom. You might not see that on the photo but I used three types of wood here – khaya, pear wood and cherry. The bedroom is huge, so when I printed the pattern I could hardly believe that the pattern was so big, had to check it twice:) Right now I’ve finished only on third, so it’ll take a couple days.
Drawings apps
I wish I had the similar app on my site. I have an Android phone, as you know there are plenty of different apps available on market now. And there’s one just perfect for miniaturists. It’s called – Design Dimensions which has two versions – free and paid one. I use free version. It’s a database of items and their dimensions – furniture, lighting, plumbing. All you have to do is to scale it:)
Louis XV chair – part 3
Denis added some carvings which took some time and gilded with gold leaf and aged with bitumen.
Now it looks not just old but ruined:)
The last part is cushions. Stay tuned!
Mirror frame
Denis hasn’t finished the chair yet, so I’ll post some updates about the roombox. I’ve finished carving and painting a mirror frame. One part:
And the whole thing together, unfortunately I haven’t found the right mirror yet, so I had to use plastic, which doesn’t look great. But I’m too impatient sometimes:)
Again I used basswood, definitely I need couple years of practice with wood carving, at least. But I’m happy and eager to learn.
