Compartments
On Wednesday I finished this central piece. The height of it is 17 mm and the width is 48 mm. I used my own mahogany veneer 0,8 mm. I was almost done with the drawers on the left and on the right of this letters compartment but decided no to use it and try to make another one.
Dickens’ Desk – The Process

I’m not a specialist, but Natalia knows everything about petitpoint. I was very lucky – Natalia agreed to post her own tutorial. Меня зовут Наталия Фрэнк. Я познакомилась с миниатюрой 8 лет назад, когда переехала жить в Америку, но только 4 года назад как серьёзно начала заниматься этим хобби. Я познакомилась с Викторией через Интернет. Её первый дом с резными ставенками шокировал меня. Дальше больше. Мебель, изготовленная Викторией, имеет свой собственный неповторимый почерк. Каждая вещь в её руках превращается в шедевр. Она не останавливается на простом дизайне. Будь-то стул, или зеркало, или диван, или шкаф, она обязательно добавит или резьбу, или маркетри, фрезерные детали, что и делает её работу уникальной.

For those who read my blog through different translators – I used to have a plugin which was translating all the posts and comments through Google Translate. Two days ago Google closed its Google Translate API, so this plugin stopped working. I got back to my long forgotten idea to translate all the posts and pages manually. Right now I have only few pages translated (one of them – Scale Calculator is really cool and useful) and a couple of posts plus all the tags and categories. I also added English RSS feed ( you can find it on the sidebar as well). You can change the language by clicking on the flag button in the top right corner.

Something New
[nocrosspost][/nocrosspost]I decided to take a break from house building. Yesterday I found this wonderful Dickens’ Desk. The desk where Charles Dickens wrote Great Expectations. It was made of mahogany. This desk fetched almost 900 000$ at auction in 2008. I also found different variations of it on several antiques’ sites.

Site updates
Till recent time I was using one Russian plugin for authorization through Facebook and Google. However, there were some problems with the last one. Yesterday I’ve installed another plugin, which not only has OpenID, Facebook and Google, but Livejournal too (mostly used by those who read my blog in Russian). Hope, there will be no problems now.
